Dance styles offered at dance force
Classical Ballet
Ballet classes will be conducted under the Russian Vaganava System, the same system that is used by the Australian Ballet School and Company. Ballet is the bases of all dance styles. Classical ballet is best known for its unique features and techniques, such as Pointe work, turn-out of the legs, high extensions and its graceful, flowing, precise movements.
Jazz
Modern jazz dance is frequently influenced by other dance styles such as acro, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and hip-hop. In turn, many other dance styles are influenced by jazz dance. As in most forms of dance, technique is the foundation for all modern jazz dance movement. Dancers who have mastered jazz dance technique are free to focus on the stylistic and performance aspects of dance.
Tap
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer's shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such the dancers are considered to be musicians.
Contemporary
This style of dance is a wonderfully expressive dance language that is not bound by rigid technique. Dynamic movements are often used to express a range of strong emotions helping students to develop a most important performance technique of connecting with their audience. Unlike classical ballet, contemporary ballet often utilizes ground work and dancers often perform in bare feet.
Theatre Musical
This class include the following components of singing, acting, script reading, dancing.
Hip Hop
Hip-hop dance refers to social or choreographed dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. This includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, and popping. What separates hip-hop dance from other forms of dance is that it is often freestyle in nature.
Limber and Conditioning
This class is a must for anyone who is serious about their dancing or is wishing to pursue a career in dance. Students will gain strength, flexibility and technique that is not able to be achieved in the normal class structure. Students doing exams or competitions should seriously be considering this class and anybody looking to increase their own strength and flexibility.
requirements of dance class enrolment
Jazz, Tap, Ballet Classes may be enrolled by anybody who desires to start dance in any of these styles. These classes have no prerequisite. These classes are available for beginners to advance.
Competitions are available to all students providing they are taking the necessary dance class in the style in which they wish to compete.
Contemporary Class is available to any student aged 8 and up who is taking a classical ballet or jazz class.
Singing Class is available to all students age 7 and up.
Conditioning and Limbering Class is available to all students aged 8 and up.
Hip Hop Class is available to all students aged 10 and up.
Musical Theatre Class is available to all students aged 8 and up providing that they are taking a Jazz class.
Pointe Class is available to those ballet students who have been pre-selected to participate in this class. These students must be taking 2 ballet classes per week.
Assessments available to students enrolled in Jazz, Tap or Ballet. Jazz and Ballet students will need to do 2 classes per week of Jazz or Ballet.
